Calcium & Vitamin D
Calcium & Vitamin D are extremely important to the human body. Calcium is needed for bones and teeth health. Vitamin d3 is very important for your Immune System and also allows your body the ability to use the calcium you consume in your diet.
Calcium in the bloodstream is used to send nerve signals, release hormones like insulin and regulate how muscles and blood vessels contract and dilate. Remember, vasodilation is the main issue with cluster headaches. It is what causes the actual pain as the dilated vessels exert pressure on certain nerves in your head and neck.
Milk is the very best source of calcium as it is the easiest calcium for your body to absorb. The amount needed is 28 to 32 ounces a day to maintain a healthy body. But many people cannot drink milk as adults, this is because in most adults there is not enough Lactase enzyme produced. This results in milk causing gas and discomfort for many.
Calcium supplements usually contain vitamin D to help your body use it. It is advised to only take 500 mg of calcium at a time, more than that is just not absorbed and you simply pass it in your urine and stool and get no additional benefit. Only take 500 mg at a time and take it in the morning and right after dinner.
Calcium and d3 also aid in Body Hydration, this is why it is such an essential need for those of us who suffer headaches.
